When Teledildonics came onto the scene in the 80s and although it seemed like a technology that would have caught on in popularity, it failed to reach the attention of the masses. For those that are not familiar Teledildonics they are sex toys that are controlled by computer software and related applications.

But now things have started to changed. With new technologies like the Oculus Rift, viewers will be able to not only experience virtual worlds but with the help of teledildonics they will be able to experience actual physical sensations within these virtual worlds.

Virtual porn is only still in it’s infancy and we’ve yet to truly gauge the impact the technology will have on the consumption of adult content. Although teledildonics have yet to catch on many different technologies have been developed over the years:

Recently Durex designed a “him and her” virtual underwear pack that allows partners to pleasure each other remotely using special underwear and related iPhone apps.

So, what exactly will the future look like for virtual porn? It’s really anyone’s guess, but it’s highly likely that combining technologies like Oculus Rift and teledildonics will result in a whole new experience never yet experienced by the masses.

David Levy argued in his 2008 book “Love and Sex with Robots” that

Sex with robots will become commonplace by 2050

We may not have full sex robots available for retail consumption, however some companies are trying to produce lifelike sex robots. As you can see from the images below, we have a long way to go:

Whether this prediction becomes true or not will remain to be seen, but what is almost certain is that men will certainly try this new technology, especially if the technology is affordable and realistic .

The short term challenges facing the virtual sex industry are currently evident. The current 3d models are not yet lifelike enough to appeal to online customers. However with companies like Infinite Realities developing 3d scans that are almost lifelike the draw to these technologies are potentially significant.

It won’t only be 1 on 1 interactions that will appeal to future porn viewers but also the voyeur nature of games like Second Life. The idea that you can explore a world and “spy” on others is very appealing to many. Those familiar with second life already know that the “sexual” interactions within the game are often the most popular uses of the game.

Once teledildonics are introduced into the game, including full Oculus Rift support Second Life will be changed forever.

So, how do you think technologies like Oculus Rift, teledildonics and virtual reality will change porn. Is this merely going to be a niche fad or something that will change the porn industry forever? Would you use such a service?

  1. I’ve never heard the word ‘Teledildonics’ before but reading your post and the others on VR game applications and Oculus Rift shows what I think will be a breakthrough in game and porn applications. It’s going to be a new world and some men may never again see the light of day. On the VR porn side there will be something for everyone, voyeurs, exhibitionists, fetishists, freaks, the inhibited, the adventurous. The possibilities are endless and all will be safe sex. I had a look at the 3d scans you mentioned at Infinite Realities, they are incredible. Then you have companies like Xmoon productions, reading their site and watching their demo shows the progress made on what they call the application of physics on fluids, characters, cloth, bodies. It’s not perfect but it has come a long way. I don’t think there’s anyway around the fact that it’s going to change porn forever. Interaction, stimulation, intensive VR. I might have to get one of the OR dev kits myself.

    1. Yes, those scans are amazing, but I think the big challenge is to get the models to move in a way that is realistic. Also the processing power that would be required to run should a virtual scan is more than most people have on their home PCs.

That being said, hardware advancements such as graphic cards for home PCs are continuing to improve and should be able to keep up with the new 3d technologies.

      1. Yeah, I don’t think the power is there yet on most home pc’s my own included but I think it is available for those with a few bucks. Think about how far computers have come, frickin amazing. Pretty soon you will be able to study the time space continuum from the comfort of your own home, or the latest hot games on your own VR setup. It sounds like the hardware is going to be affordable, at least comparably to what people pay for gaming equipment.

  2. So what do you think will be the first virtual reality sexual technology to become more mainstream? Right now there’s the interactives sex toys, the Oculus Rift and other headsets that ‘bring you into’ the porn, adult versions of games like Second Life, remote control vibes and sex toys, and even these sex robots that you’ve touched on. I’m thinking it’ll be whatever tech is really affordable to the average guy whacking off in front of a porn movie after a hard day’s work.

Right now, the only virtual sex tech option that even seems somewhat affordable are these teledildonics toys. RealTouch pretty much is the highest end that I think guys would be willing to throw down for sex toys. (And, it’s a pretty decent value for money.) Once you start hitting the headsets costing high three figures to four figures, you’re looking at a smaller selection of super rich guys who are willing to spend that sort of cash. Those sex dolls already cost more than a grand, and I’m guessing that the price will easily be double to triple that when you add in some virtual sex technology. Then again, if a retailer sells a handful a month, they’re doing pretty well for revenue.

That women’s remote control panty set from Durex seems pretty decent as well. Remote control vibrating panties have been around for years, but usually with either wired vibes, or ones with a really short wireless remote control range. At least with this one hooked into iPhone apps you’re open it up to truly long distance couples who are looking for an interactive sex experience even when they’re miles apart. Might even be a great gift to give your favorite cam girl so you can almost control what’s going on while you’re camming with her. Hmm…now that gives me an idea!

  3. Totally had never heard of teledildonics. Actually read this because I was like what the hell is that/should I know what that is?
But ya, I agree computers have come so far and the technology will probably get to point where you basically are getting a blowjob from a toy with the exact sensations on your cock based on how the VR girl is sucking it. Also that VR girl could be a real women somewhere around the world. It blows my mind to imagine that. But I also wonder how expensive these technologies will be. I imagine it will be like the 99$ package, will be the sex toy equivalent to a blow up doll with the seam across the pussy. Lol. Bit scratchy.
I’m sure sex toys will come out that we cant even currently imagine, all because the Oculus Rift adult porn games. Crazy.
