Set to change the World!

So, the Oculus Rift DK2 delivery date is on the horizon and the excitement is continuing to mount.  Only another month or so to go until our bank accounts feel the pain (well, mine at least) and the second iteration of Palmer Luckey’s brainchild is officially enroute to doorsteps and offices everywhere.  So how have things changed over the course of the last couple of weeks in the VR Porn sphere?  Well, other than a video or two from the lovely bunch over at OculusRealPorn.com and a couple of updates to 3DXChat (which we will be sure to cover again soon, as promised), surprisingly, not a whole lot.

So what’s the deal?  Are all of the would-be VR porn developers just keeping things quiet, holding out so as not to disturb the calm waters until the time to touch the world is ripe, or is everybody just waiting to see how things pan out after the CV1 launch?   I can’t blame people for being a little wary given VR’s previously unsuccessful attempts to capture the minds (and private parts) of hungry consumers; but surely, all the news of the Facebook buyout and Oculus VR’s impressive and steadily growing list of kick-ass development muscle is enough to convince people that VR is really here to stay (right?).  Even the Indie devs have quieted down, with all but one such project, VRTitties, keeping it stiff where everyone else has gone limp.

It would seem that ever since Wicked Paradise lost it’s mojo, things have been a little slow.  Given the recent announcement of SugarDVD’s movement into the interactive VR Porn space, I would like to imagine that secretly porn devs everywhere are furiously beating away at their keyboards, preparing themselves for the ultimate reveal of VR Pornography blessings upon our eager bodies.  If Rift number one had such an impression as to begin the VR Porn revolution, just imagine what number two is going to bring!

  1. Hi,

According to a reply on my request the makers of 3DXChat do not plan to support the DK2 of the Oculus.
Instead they want to wait for the consumer version which is planned to be released in very late 2015.

Maybe you could asked them if this is really true?

    Cordially,
    Markus

    1. Hi Markus, I seen the comment on their forums and I can’t say I was too surprised. Getting support for DK2 means investing more time and resources into development and if they are choosing to wait it is likely because they haven’t seen enough DK1 users to make them think it would be worthwhile.
Unfortunately I think this is likely the reason that there aren’t too many adult Rift applications out there aside from the demos at this point… and I have to admit I never really thought of that when I wrote the article.

At least we know 2015 (assuming CV1 is released then) will be a great year!! 😀
