How to watch Regular Porn on your Oculus Rift?

We all know how to watch 3d porn from OculusRealPorn.com, and get our rocks off checking out sexy thongs in games like 3DXChat (at least you should, if you’ve been paying any attention to our posts), but have you ever wondered how to watch Regular Porn on your Oculus Rift? Well you’re (somewhat unsurprisingly) not alone; this happens to be a question we have been asked by many people who simply want to watch regular porn from sites like Pornhub.com and Xhamster.com on their Rifts, and one that isn’t without a few good answers.

One of the first things I did when I got my Rift was check out the Virtual Theaters and VR Video Players, and it didn’t take long until I became curious and decided I needed to see exactly what it would take to look at my favorite porn websites in the Rift. Thankfully I found out that the process is not difficult by any means; which is important because the last thing a guy with a boner wants to do is mess about with unwieldy programs (unless of course, that’s your thing).

So how do we accomplish this amazing feat and turn an Oculus Rift into the perfect porn wielding party machine?

The easiest way that I have found by far is probably easier than you think, and I would be willing to wager that the majority of you probably already have it installed.
Just fire up Steam in VR mode and use their integrated web browser to look up whatever you like.
You can find instructions on this page but basically all you need to do is start Steam in “Big Picture” mode, then select VR Mode from the View menu; it couldn’t be much easier!
You will have to forgive me for my brevity regarding concise details, as I am without Rift until DK2 arrives, and the process has changed somewhat since then.

Next up would be Deskope, which is free software allowing you to work with Windows using the Oculus Rift.
While I consider this choice second to Steam for viewing porn, it is only a matter of pure aesthetics that prompts me to do so, as Deskope provides VR access to everything Windows provides, so watching porn is often as simple as a couple of clicks.
Though it is easy to set up and run, it does currently require a pretty hefty PC if you are going to be viewing things in higher detail; but it has plenty of options for customization if you do happen to find things slowing down, so that shouldn’t pose too much of a problem, you horny bastard.

My third choice would be the Janus VR Browser, which we spoke about here a couple of weeks ago.  Janus would likely be first on my list, but it takes a bit of work to get a new room set up.

If you don’t mind tinkering about in order to get things happening however, it is by far the most immersive of our choices thus far.

Now that we got those figured out, perhaps you are wondering why somebody would even want to watch regular porn in the Rift when they could just watch it on their monitor, and likely a lot faster and easier at that?
Two reasons:
1) Privacy. Inside of the Rift whatever you are seeing is limited to your eyes alone, unless you choose to display it on your monitor as well.
By turning off your external display, you have a completely personal viewing experience where you can look at whatever dirty thing you feel like, and nobody around you would be the wiser.
2) Immersion. Although watching regular porn in 2d in the Rift is definitely not as immersive an experience as viewing 3d material designed for VR, it is still arguably loads more immersive than just watching it on your monitor alone.
I’m not sure exactly why that is, and YMMV; but every person I have talked to about it feels the same.  It is just better this way.

So before I wrap up this article I would like to add that this is by no means an exhaustive list of everything that is available which will allow you to view regular porn on your Oculus Rift.
The VR ecosystem is growing fast and new things are popping up all the time (and old ones evolving); but these three programs are, in my opinion, the best of what is available at the time and are the most likely to make your VR Porn viewing experience one with a happy ending.
