So, here we are; the long awaited month when Oculus Rift development 2 shipping begins! But something is missing! Things are definitely getting a little cold in the world of virtual reality porn.
We know the niche is young and things are still just getting started, but is there really so little going on in the world of it’s development?
Are would be developers perhaps worried about the possible backlash that an immersive erotic game may bring? Are they concerned that the world may not yet be ready for the awesomeness that virtual reality sex will be? Is the prospect of legions of teenage boys spending countless hours at home whacking it to VR vixens instead of computer screens really that daunting?
Nah, I’m sure there are legitimate reasons that the VR Porn sphere has been largely ignored over the course of the last few months. Let’s just hope that people aren’t just still worried that “the Zuck” will somehow fuck it all up.
One thing is for sure, we are definitely lacking; so what can we do about it? Well, for starters if you’re even remotely interested in what VR Porn has to offer, make sure you are vocal about it. It’s all about supply and demand right; and how can anybody know there is a demand if people aren’t talking about it?
It is totally possible that there just doesn’t seem to be a big enough market yet to make it seem worthwhile to most; and when the ultimate developers goal is to make enough money to make more games it’s not hard to see why people would choose the more “fruitful” fields. There is a thread on the official Oculus forums dedicated to VR porn and sex and it has been largely left alone over the course of the last month or so, so it wouldn’t hurt to start there and let people know just how much you want it.
