Oculus Rift is set to go retail in 2016 and many others will follow. Virtual Reality apps and games are great, but what many are really looking forward to is some good old VR porn.

Here are 5 Reasons Why VR Porn will be huge in 2016:

This is the first time Virtual Reality porn will be available

One of the main reasons why VR porn will be big in 2016 is that this is really the first time good VR adult content will be available to the masses. No doubt most “guys” will want to give the technology a try and if the technical barriers to entry are low most will. Once devices like Oculus go retail most will be curious enough to try VR porn for the first time.

2. People are too busy to go out and meet others

There’s no doubt that many people these days are simply too busy to go out and meet other people. Also, a big part of the population is less social than ever and would rather sit home and flip through Netflix. What are you going to do if you can’t fuck a real person?? We’ll, that’s where VR porn comes in. You think Netflix is addictive, wait until you can serve up VR porn at will.

3. Natural evolution

VR porn is the natural evolution of the adult industry. We started with magazines, then moved on to film. Film turned into VHS then DVD sales. Once the internet hit everything changed. Now we can immerse ourselves into a virtual reality adult world like no one has ever experienced. This is simply the next generation of porn.

4. More supply, more demand

Usually demand will predate supply, however in this case many production houses are gearing up for new VR adult content. From Badoink.com to VirtualRealityPorn the production houses are creating new ways to consume adult content. With such a supply of choice how can you not be curious and try the menu?

5. It’s awesome!!

Probably the biggest reason why VR porn will be huge in 2016 and beyond is that it’s simply awesome. Considering how amazing the current VR products are now, they will only get better as time moves on. Once we can get over the uncanny valley with VR models and the hardware is properly configured the VR sex experience will continue to improve.

  1. I agree the industry will grow in 2016, but I’m still skeptical how big this will actually be. Oculus has already stated that they won’t allow porn apps in the store, which would cut down on the available content significantly.
    Time will tell I guess

  2. I have no doubt that this will be big, just interested to see how quickly they can make it realistic enough to really enjoy. There’s no way I’ll be able to bring big clunky devices into the house and hide everything from my girlfriend. Looking forward to seeing how the big companies deal with this one.

  3. I’m one of those people who loved the idea of VR when it first emerged and who got to actually experience it about 15 years ago, but who hasn’t kept up with it since. I now want to get acquainted with the “state of the art”. Where should I look?

  4. The secret is releasing some good VR gear commercially already, at a price that normal people can afford.

  5. Thanks for another great article 🙂

I’m hopeful that this (~2016) generation of VR will be a success, but I’m surprised by the lack of enthusiasm coming from many traditional gamers. From comments I’ve read on various forums it seems that their reluctance to buy into VR is down to a mixture of the [anticipated] price of the hardware, not wanting to look like a prat wearing a VR headset, not wanting to be 100% cut-off from the real world, and also being satisfied with using what they already have as a visual medium (TV / monitor).

I wonder if this lack of enthusiasm from gamers is mirrored by developers (with the added reluctance they have in risking sinking too much cash into VR until the size of the install-base is firmly established).

Personally I’m really hoping that VR is successful but I also have my concerns about spending a significant chunk of cash on VR hardware. My primary concern being that VR will fail this time round because the people who are traditional early adopters of this type of tech (gamers) won’t buy in to VR and the big software companies, as a result, will fail to invest in the tech.

I might feel differently when it’s released though (if I get a chance to try one, and it really is as good as I’m hoping, I may just buy in anyway).

  6. I’m up for it, love the idea of playing a flight sim or something with one of these on.

  7. I think it’s definitely limited by how many people with eye problems like myself just cannot use these devices,

I tried a friends occulus alpha kit and it was just a double blurry mess and made me feel sick.

For those who can use it though I imagine it could be exciting.

  8. Thanks also for the great article. I’ve really enjoyed the experiences with the Samsung Oculus VR, the cinema mode alone is worth the price of entry.
I think we’re at a point like the earliest days of video games of an ideas deficit. Added to that making HD 360 3D video camera tech adfordable to consumers. Once past all that, VR will get serious attention.

  9. There’s another 3D sexual experience I’ve heard of….no, wait, nevermind. Too old fashioned for the demographic.

  10. 6. Some of us just can’t get laid.

    1. But now… we can!!! 😀
