I’ve had a bit of a strange go at things this year for me so far, kind of a mixed bag. It all started off rather well, but then I lost my Wife of 10 years (she left me for another, much younger man), encountered some serious financial struggles as a result, gained some friends, lost some friends, and learned a whole lot about myself in the process (also, my beautiful new 1440p monitor fried; and in an unrelated bad-light-switch-wiring incident, my house and all of my precious VR gear almost burned down).
Every cloud has it’s silver lining though, and as a testament to the power of technology, throughout all the chaos and hubbub of my somewhat personal (until I posted it on this blog) experience, one of the things that has been keeping me going has been the impossible-not-to-notice fact that it has been one hell of a great year for VR! The HTC Vive/Steam collaborative effort was announced, demoed, reviewed (as being awesome) and is slated for a consumer release by the end of the year.
The long awaited Oculus Rift CV1 has finally been revealed and is just on the horizon (About fricking time guys! Just kidding, we know it will be worth the wait) with a host of very exciting big-budget projects coming along with it. And the tech itself has caught such wide attention it is being touted as the next best thing to happen to, well… pretty much everything!
Architecture, psychology, medicine, video games, and the kitchen sink can all see benefits from Virtual Reality… but up until recently we seemed to be (surprisingly) lagging just a bit behind in the pornography sector; being limited to but a few scraggly demos (no offense to the creators! We’re all new to this!) here and there, and barely any attention from the bigger studios.
Now, all of that has changed! In just a short amount of time we have watched VirtualRealPorn.com go from the humble beginnings (back in the OculusRealPorn.com days) of treading new ground with but a small rag-tag assembly of slightly-uncomfortable-but-still-makes-you-horny-because-damn-it-is-just-so-cool videos to watch on our nausea (don’t forget the headache) inducing DK1’s, to being the biggest producer of quality VR Porn video content available and supporting damn near every headset out there in existence; and don’t forget the teledildonic support!
Veiviev finally got things going with VRGirlz, producing some of the nicest and classiest 3d nudes we have ever been able to oogle (and some really cool touchable titties and jiggly boob demo vids showcasing some of the possibilities of the future); and VRTube.xxx has launched their new Holographic 3d Porn service, even adding a VR dating sim with Ela Darling to the bunch!
The adult-dev crowd over at the OculusNSFW subreddit has grown considerably in scope, magnitude and ability as well; from just a couple of small, mostly hentai themed demos a little less than a year ago, to many dozens of enjoyable experiences ranging from the very basic and somewhat bizarre “Finish Her!”, to the slightly more ambitious “Club VixXxen” secret strip club (warning: early alpha and it shows), and of course lets not forgot the ever growing VRTitties!
So if you were wondering if VR Porn was ever going to really get off the ground (all of us here knew it would, we were just wondering when) take a look at some of what is there and be happy to know that this is still just the tip of the peni… err… iceberg.
